There are so many reasons to permanently protect the Dolores River Canyon

There are so many reasons to permanently protect the Dolores River Canyon, and that’s why Hispanic leaders across the Southwest and members of the HECHO Hispanic Conservation Leadership Council (HCLC) support the national monument proposal. “The Dolores is an important area and an important watershed, and it is absolutely magnificent. It should be protected for generations to come,” says Jerry Cordova, a stormwater specialist with the City of Colorado Springs and HCLC member from Colorado. “When we look at public lands, those are for everyone to enjoy. The essence of protecting a place like the Dolores River Canyon is as crucial to enjoying the outdoors while creating memories and spending time with your loved ones,” says Orlando Cazarez, Arizona Sustainability Alliance CEO and HCLC member from Arizona.
