Southwestern Arizona Has a Landscape That Needs Permanent Protection: The Great Bend of the Gila

Members of the Hispanic Conservation Leadership Council and the HECHO team visited Saddle Mountain, located between Phoenix and Yuma in the Great Bend of the Gila area. This landscape in Southwestern Arizona is part of the Sonoran Desert, one of the most biodiverse regions in North America. It is home to tens of thousands of petroglyphs and cultural resources and provides recreational opportunities for the growing population of the Phoenix metropolitan area. However, vandalism, urban expansion, and development threaten this area and its value for wildlife and the community. Watch this video to learn more.
