Free Arizona Family Fishing Day

AZ Fishing Day.jpg

On Saturday, October 7 the public is invited to attend a free fishing day with free hot dogs and snacks hosted by the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Maricopa County Supervisor Steve Gallardo, Phoenix Councilman Nowakowski, Hispanics Enjoying Camping, Hunting & the Outdoors (HECHO), and the Laveen Baseball League.  The AZ Game and Fish Department will provide 100 loaner fishing rods, bait and instructions (or bring your own!).

This is a family-friendly event, and no experience is necessary.  The lake will be stocked with 500 pounds of catfish.  Fishing licenses are not required during the planned hours of the event for those who register at the Arizona Game & Fish booth, located on-site.

“This is a perfect opportunity for Latino families to spend time together and continue our cultural tradition of enjoying the outdoors,” said Liz Archuleta, Arizona spokesperson for HECHO.  “We’re building the next generation of stewards of public lands.”

The event will take place at Alvord Lake in Ceasar Chavez Park, 7858 S. 35th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85339
